Plexiglas Acrylic
Plexiglas® Acrylic sheets are glass like plastic that will not yellow or discolor for up to ten years. Acrylic sheets are very strong and lightweight giving it the ability to withstand outdoor weather and uphold clarity. There is less chance of the Plexiglas® acrylic sheets breaking which makes it a safe option instead of glass. Acrylic is seventeen times stronger than glass and half the weight. Plexiglas® Acrylic sheets can scratch but can be sanded and buffed to restore its finish. It is resistant to breaking and also is recyclable. It is optically clearer than glass as well, and it can easily bond with solvent adhesives to other acrylic products or other plastics.
The Science Behind Plexiglas® Acrylic Sheets
Acrylic, also commonly known as PMMA for short, can also be called Perspex, Lucite, Plexiglas®, Acrylite, but they are all generally the same. Plexiglas is a registered trade name. The scientific name for Acrylic is Poly (methyl 2-methylpropenoate). Its melting point is 160 0C its boiling point is 200 0C.
